It was created in 1997 on the area of ​​water reservoirs, sinkings, heaps and wastelands created as a result of mining and metallurgy operations on an area of ​​226.2 ha. These areas have been recognized as one of the most valuable natural areas of Silesia in terms of ornithofauna. Ornithologists have designated 129 bird species here, including 76 breeding bird species, of which 17 are few in the scale of Upper Silesia.
