The park construction project was created in 1950 at a meeting of the Provincial National Council in Katowice. Construction works began in July 1951. The assumption was to divide the area into two zones. The central part of the park with a forest character, with a network of pedestrian paths conducive to passive recreation. The remaining 13 ha with cultural and recreational specificity as a favorable area for active recreation and organization of cultural urban events. Various investments were gradually implemented in the park.
