The Silesian Zoological Garden is located in the Silesian Park in Chorzów. It covers an area of 49 ha. Its origins date back to 1954, when animal cages were built. Then the first species of animals from the zoo in Katowice and Bytom were transferred to it. There are a total of 2,201 animals from 280 species. The Silesian Zoological Garden has a very large area of pavilions available to visitors, which allows the inhabitants of our region to visit also in the winter. All pavilions in the garden have ramps and barriers enabling all disabled people to visit all pavilions. A large number of alleys in the garden, among rich, often exotic greenery, rich gastronomic base, location of the Park and garden very close to the center of large Silesian agglomerations means that for many residents of our province is the only easily accessible place for rest and recreation.
