One of the oldest monuments in Pszczyna, and the oldest building of the palace complex preserved in an unchanged shape is the "Warta" building with the Gate of the Chosen, located in the southwestern part of the market square. It was built in 1687 by the author of the late-Renaissance reconstruction of the palace, the architect Consilius, and was the seat of the castle guard. It is a brick, plastered, one-story brick building with a wing bent to the south, connecting it with the outbuilding. On the corner there is a beautiful round tower, covered with a conical roof. Inside, barrel vaults with telescopes and beamed ceilings; on the axis a cross-vaulted gate vaulted in a semi-circular stone portal. Above it, the peak with a stone plaque with an inscription containing chronostats with the date of construction, and two stone cartouches with the coats of arms of Baltazar Promnitz and Emilia Agnieszka Saska, which are a copy of the original, currently walled into the wall of the passage. The inscription reads: "OMNIPOTENS COELI, TERRAE PELAGIQVE CREATOR EXCVBIIS POSTES FVLCIAT HOSCE SVIS", which means: "Almighty Heaven, Earth, Sea. The Creator, guard his gate worth". Access to the "Warta" building from the market is supported by two arcades stretched over the reconstructed outline of the former moat. Pszczyna's "chosen ones" guarded the castle until 1875
